Audio Field Recording and Sound Mapping with Mobile Devices

The workshop will focus on new trends in audio field recording and the various possibilities afforded by smart phones and other mobile devices. Participants will work with the Concordia-based iOS app 'Audio-Mobile' to make audio recordings tagged with GPS coordinates before uploading these files to an online soundmap. Key concepts from mobility and soundscape studies will also be outlined and examined.
