MOBmontréal désire être l’hôte de conversations sur le rôle du ludique dans l’engagement citoyen. Pour ce faire, nous invitons une grande variété d’acteurs pour des 5@7 hebdomadaires et gratuits au pub Randolph (2041 St-Denis, Montréal, H2X 3K8) où il sera possible de discuter collectivement sur des sujets reliés à l’engagement ludique.

Ce lundi, nous parlons du sujet suivant : Comment susciter l'engagement en cybermilitantisme par le jeu?

Extrait: Des fois au service de la défense de nos libertés civiles en ligne, d'autres fois devançant les enjeux du web par sa créativité, l'acte de cyberactivisme est au parfum du jour après les révélations d'Edward Snowdon concernant la situation précaire des données privées sur l'Internet.

Cette semaine, venez rencontrer d'importants acteurs montréalais qui oeuvrent dans la sensibilisation, l'organisation et le développement de technologies au service des droits des citoyens. Dimitri Vitaliev de Equalit.ie viendra nous parler des actions qu'il met en oeuvre pour supporter les défenseurs des droits humains internationaux et discutera avec nous de son intention d'utiliser le jeu pour sensibiliser les citoyens au cyberactivisme.

Deuxième invité de la rencontre, Stéphane Guidoin de Nord Ouvert parlera des budgets ouverts. Il explorera avec nous l'expérience du citoyen lorsqu'il participe à des actions citoyennes/activistes en ligne et nous questionnera sur la valeur des données recueillies dans un processus ludifié. En préparation à cette rencontre, Stéphane Guidoin vous invite à consulter le site Budget Plateau, un outil de création de budgets citoyens pour l’arrondissement du Plateau Mont-Royal.

Biographies :

Dimitri Vitaliev (Directeur, Equalit.ie)
Dmitri is the founder and director of eQualit.ie with over a decade of experience working on digital security and privacy technology within the human rights and independent media sector. He has led and participated in missions to over 30 countries, and is a recognised expert on technology training. He is the author of the Digital Security and Privacy for Human Rights Defenders manual and was a leading member of the NGO-in-a-Box Security Edition project. He has helped to create worldwide networks of trainers, developed curricula for various security programs and is also a regular contributor to technology publications. Currently Dmitri manages the Deflect website security infrastructure and the Corroborator data analysis project at eQualit.ie as well as running the Digital Security School programs with eQualit.ie's partners.

Stéphane Guidoin (Directeur, Nord Ouvert)

Stéphane Guidoin est directeur chez Nord Ouvert, un organisme sans but lucratif visant à améliorer la participation citoyenne et la transparence gouvernementale par les biais des technologies de l'information et de l'ouverture des données. Dans ce cadre, Stéphane participe au développement d'outils et de produits facilitant l'interaction entre citoyens et gouvernements.

Projet: Budget Citoyen. Budget Citoyen est une application de consultation budgétaire en ligne. Utilisé par une dizaine de ville en Amérique du Nord et notamment à Montréal pour BudgetPlateau te BudgetSudOuest, cet outil permet de faire comprendre au citoyen les arbitrages que les élus doivent réaliser en vue d'équilibrer leur budget, tout en permettant aux citoyens de faire entendre leur préférence en matière de priorité pour leur ville. Le tout se veut comme une complément facile d'accès et simple aux processus plus long qui existent déjà.

MOBmontreal wants to be the HUB of the conversation on the role of play in civic engagement. To do this, We are inviting a large number of actors from various fields to a series of weekly free 5@7s at pub Randolph (2041 St-Denis, Montréal, H2X 3K8) where we will have conversations around subjects related to playful citizen mobilization.

This Monday we will be talking about Can we get citizens engaged in cyberactivism using play?

Brief : Sometimes serving the defense of our online civil liberties while elsewhere ahead of the curve concerning issues of the internet through it’s innovations, cyberactivism is is a growingly important activity, particularly if one takes a moment to think of Edward Snowdon’s revelations on the precarious state of our private information in the web.

This week, come and meet some important Montreal actors that advocate, organize and develop technology for the good of our human rights. Dimitri Vitaliev of Equalit.ie will come and speak to us about his activities which support human right activists around the world and will present his intention to use play as a means to get people interested in cyberactivism.

Our second speaker, Stéphane Guidoin of Open North will come and talk about Open Budgets. He will explore with us the citizen’s experience with such participatory programs and ask about the value of data collected during a gamified process. For this presentation, it would be best if you would be acquainted with Budget Plateau, a tool used that lets citizens submit budgets to their district (in this case, the Plateau Mont-Royal).

Stéphane Guidoin is Open North’s transportation director, joining our team after 12 years of practicing IT in finance and telecommunications. In 2006, he cofounded the first Canadian open data initiative, CivicAccess. Since 2010, he has focused on transportation and urbanization issues with the development of ZoneCone and the organization of TransportationCamp in Montreal.

Stéphane believes that open data is a major component to improve communities and democratic processes. He hopes to make open data more relevant as a tool for making government open and encouraging fulfilling and sustainable communities.
