Midi-conférence: «The Incredible Edible Todmorgen Project»

Dans le cadre de sa série de séminaires 2012-2013, le Crapaud et le Laboratoire Agriculture urbaine de l'Institut des sciences de l'environnement sont heureux d'organiser un midi-conférence avec Pamela Warhurst d'Incredible Edible.

L’ «Incredible Edible Todmorgen Project» est né dans la petite ville de Todmorgen, au Royaume Uni, en 2008. Initié par Pamela Warhurst, Mary Clear, et un collectif d’habitants de Todmorgen, ce mouvement citoyen de jardinage urbain a pour objectif de faire se rencontrer les habitants autour d’actions en faveur d’une alimentation locale.

Depuis leur création, les Incredible Edible ont essaimé un peu partout dans le monde, et plus de 20 autres villes suivent à présent l’exemple de Todmorgen, en investissant les coins et recoins abandonnés de la ville pour produire des fruits et légumes frais.

A l’occasion de sa visite à Montréal, Pamela Warhurst viendra nous présenter l’initiative « Incredible Edible » : comment l’agriculture urbaine peut-elle contribuer à renforcer les communautés et l’engagement citoyen, quel est le potentiel du jardinage urbain pour réinventer la ville et le lien des urbains à leur alimentation ?

The Incredible Edible Todmorden project is an urban gardening project started in 2008 by Pamela Warhurst, Mary Clear and a group of like-minded people in Todmorden (in West Yorkshire, England). The project aims at bringing people together and through actions around local food, help change behavior toward the environment and build a kinder and more resilient world.

Since its conception, the Incredible Edible ethos has been taken up by communities all over the world where local people are coming together in their own time to turn unused pieces of land into community gardens growing food to share, and there are now more than twenty other 'Incredible Edible' towns following the lead of Yorkshire's Todmorden.

On the occasion of her visit in Montreal, Pamela Warhurst will present the 'Incredible Edible' initiative: how can urban agriculture contribute to strengthening communities and social movement, what is the potential of urban gardening to reinvent cities ​​and our relationship to food?
