This lecture presentation charts the processes, contingencies and adventitious detours from the project Coffee Deposits:::Topologies of Chance by artist and researcher Tina Bastajian US/NL, (in collaboration Seda Manavoğlu NL/TR). The work is shaped into a hybrid between documentary forms and the ludic, contoured into an interactive environment, (i.e. DVD-ROM, web). The work explores a topology of spaces; unpredictable and rapidly shifting urban patterns, disparate stories and accounts by those who inhabit, walk, dwell, witness, work and protest in the city. The talk will also explore an iteration of the project, Pera pARkours (in beta), which uses augmented reality (AR) tactics to activate the archive of Topologies of Chance by revisiting a location in Istanbul’s Pera/Galata district that conjured intriguing forms of hybrid space.
