A lecture-workshop lead by: Sylvia Safdie
Part of McGill Univeristy's Personal and Cultural Enrichment (PACE) Program
This session will feature a moderated discussion by Professor Eric Lewis (McGill University) with Ms. Safdie, and a number of her musical collaborators concerning her approach to image and sound, and the collaborative nature of her video production. Her artistic methods, from conception through final video production, will be examined, against a backdrop of the nature of cross-art collaborations. The workshop will allow for discussion with the audience, and will end with a live musical improvisation between the featured musicians and video by Ms. Safdie. Guests will include: Malcolm Goldstein, John Heward and Patrick Andrew Boivin.
This workshop is held in association with an exhibition of Ms. Safdie's video art on display at the Music Library of McGill University, and in partnership with Improvisation, Community and Social Practice at McGill and the McGill Center for the Critical Study of Improvisation.
