The Top Quark as a Window to New Physics at ATLAS - Tobias Golling

Résumé/abstract:

The LHC is a top factory. Many million top quarks have been produced already. Experimental techniques are well established to isolate and identify top quarks. These are ideal conditions to search for new phenomena with top quarks. Top quark final states are some of the most probable places for new physics to show up and I will show the state of the art of the corresponding searches at ATLAS. In particular, I will discuss searches for supersymmetric and other top partners and searches for top quark resonances. So-called 'boosted' reconstruction techniques will be presented which are important in the regime probed.
