This interactive, hands-on workshop aims to inform, empower and support those caught in the Sandwich Generation between the diverse needs of aging parents/relatives and children. Together we will brainstorm and discuss solutions to the challenges of being part of the Sandwich Generation.

This workshop will appeal to anyone currently feeling sandwiched between the diverse needs of an aging parent/relative and growing children, as well as those professionals and volunteers working with them. In this interactive 3-hour workshop, we will explore:

The phenomenon of being sandwiched (aging process, developmental issues and stages and the associated diseases).
Initiating important conversations with your aging relative and family members about “What if…?”
Getting into the driver’s seat with your aging relative and planning for “What if…?”
The squeaky wheel: becoming an advocate and mentor for your aging relative
Linking with local support services and managing the stress of care-giving: self-care
Balancing needs through delegating
