Toronto is the setting for the most molten rock and metal scene in the western hemisphere. Meet Diemonds: the city’s hungriest band, clawing their way out of the underground with their saccharine-and-daggers hard rock. Fronted by rock’s most dangerous deity Priya Panda, the band shines on stage, commanding an audience all night long. Diemonds aren’t through until every single crowd member has had a real rock n’ roll experience.
With “In the Rough,” a CD/cassette release that’s already in the hands of every headbanger in the know, buzz on the upcoming release is at a fever pitch. On the cusp of releasing the hotly anticipated ‘The Bad Pack,” Diemonds will take their mean, tough and infectious sound on the road in 2012. You can expect big things from the young band who have a music video in rotation across Canada called “Take on the Night, and already toured extensively in the US, Canada and India, without the backing of a record label.
Having gained local recognition and sponsorship from heavyweights like Jagermeister and Pabst Blue Ribbon for their bombastic live performances, Diemonds have been fortunate enough to play opening slots for hard rock heroes like Slash, LA Guns, Michael Monroe, Teenage Head, and many more. They’ve had headlining spots at the Halifax Pop Explosion, CMW and North by Northeast.
Meanwhile, history was made in when Diemonds toured northeast India, becoming the first female-fronted act ever to play the city of Shillong, India’s rock capital.
Last summer, the band even made a special appearance at the prestigious Rocklahoma festival in Pryor, OK playing four sets in three days alongside bands like Motley Crue, Staind, Whitesnake, Seether, & Papa Roach. They have been asked to make a return visit in 2012 with a month-long stint in the US to follow.
If the response to In the Rough is any indication, Diemonds is in for one hell of a ride. Accolades for the album spanned the globe, earning the headbangers Best Album of 2009 from Classic Rock Magazine (UK), BlogsnRoses.com, and Kelv Hellrazer of Los Angeles’ 100.1 The Edge radio.
It has been said that Diemonds keep one boot in the gutter — and the other in your teeth. With The Bad Pack they do something else, too: they take a huge step forward.
