Description en anglais seulement
(insert TITLE) marimba duo consists of Ben Duinker (Montreal) and Greg Samek (Toronto), and recently won the Ludwig Albert Talent Prize for chamber music at the 2011 Universal Marimba Competition in St-Truiden, Belgium. Arguably the only Canadian ensemble that specializes exclusively in marimba chamber music, (insert TITLE) seeks to broaden the awareness of this instrument in North America, where its role in chamber music is currently much less prominent than in Europe and Asia. The duo has recently commissioned three emerging composers: Patrick Hart (USA - McGill), Mitchell Burke (Canada - U de Montréal), and Eliot Britton (Canada - McGill).
Architek Percussion
Architek is an emerging percussion quartet based out of Montréal, Québec. Focused on the presentation of avant-garde art music, experimental, and electroacoustic works, Architek is dedicated to the creation of new works of Canadian composers and has two commissions set to be premiered in 2012. The innovative quartet has performed in Ontario and Quebec, and was a featured ensemble in this year’s Semaine de la Culture in Montreal. They recently worked with Vinko Globokar at the Music Gallery in Toronto where they performed his percussion quartet “Kvadrat”. The four members met as students at McGill University and, inspired by their shared interest in contemporary art music, formed the ensemble in 2011. They have since received favorable reviews from audiences and musicians alike, and look forward to sharing their upcoming performances with you.
