GWENAËL BÉLANGER - MICHEL DE BROIN - MANON DE PAUW - ISABELLE HAYEUR - ALAIN PAIEMENT
Depuis les années quatre-vingt-dix, une pratique artistique conceptuelle utilisant le support photographique s’est développée à Montréal. Au moment où l’ordinateur apparaissait dans les universités québécoises en tant qu’outil indispensable, un groupe d’artistes précis entamait une formation en arts visuels. Michel de Broin, Gwenaël Bélanger, Manon de Pauw, Isabelle Hayeur : tous semblent avoir été entraînés vers ces nouvelles technologies qui offraient alors, dans un contexte post-moderne aux mille possibilités, un terrain vierge, séduisant.
In the 1990s, a group of artists in Montreal developed a new conceptual art practice based on photographic media. As the computer was becoming an indispensable tool across society, they were beginning their education in the visual arts. Michel de Broin, Gwenaël Bélanger, Manon de Pauw, Pascal Grandmaison, Isabelle Hayeur, Nicholas Baier; all were drawn in by these new technologies that offered countless possibilities on an untouched artistic terrain, all within the context of postmodernism.
